What is a business intelligence analyst?
Find out how to be a business intelligence analyst, what the job involves and what salary you can expect
Companies are gathering increasing amounts of data, with information flowing in from all manner of sources; point of sales devices, social media, customer services, stocktake systems, and Internet of Things (IoT) sensors and hubs.
And there are now more tools and software to make the gathering, processing and analysing that data an easier process for businesses. With this increase in data comes a greater need for business intelligence (BI) analysts to spot patterns in the collected information and use it to derive insights that can aid business decisions, strategies, and product or service development.
While senior IT leaders may be ultimately responsible for business decisions, a BI analyst is well placed to identify the strengths and weaknesses of a company, aid strategies and tactics to boost more successful areas, and find ways to improve those that are performing badly.
